Neha Snacks established in 1989 is a restaurant that has been run successfully by a Punjabi trader family settled in Ladakh for four generations.

The project makes a modern-day addition to this age-old institution. The brief prescribed an expansion of the dining area to the upper level to accommodate for an ever-increasing demand at this bustling, tourist friendly restaurant.

A total of 22 covers have been added in a 225 sq.ft area. All the furniture was custom designed to maximize seating in the limited space available.

A geometrically complex and yet understated spiral staircase was designed to provide access to the dining area on the first floor with evolved, site-specific detailing. Sensorial experience of hand finished lime plastered walls and IPS floor anchors the space in its history and time. The project marks a sensitive intervention within a constrained existing built form.
